helicopters unload troops in Khan Neshin, Afghanistan, August 11, 2009. Khan Neshin district had been held by Taliban forces without a civil administration until June, 2009, when US forces deployed throughout Helmand province. A company of US Marines 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion has been stationed in Khan Neshin at FOB Castle for two months, August 11, 2009. It's the southern-most US military post in Helmand province nearly 80 miles from the Pakistan border.
